Polycom IP Phone Setup Instructions

The phone in the default mode is setup to get an IP address via a DHCP server or router. If you have any firewalls, please make sure port 5060, both in and out are opened. If you have any questions during the process, please call (336) 544-4000 Option 3.

SETUP FOR POLYCOM SOUNDPOINT IP PHONE WITH CAROLINANET SERVICE

  • Press MENU after the phone has completely booted up or Press SETUP while it is booting

  • Press 3

  • Press 2

  • Enter 456 for the Password and the Press ENTER (softkey on the left)

  • Select 1 for Admin Settings

  • Select 1 for Network Configuration

  • Arrow down to SERVER MENU

  • Press SELECT (softkey on the right)

Should read as below (you should NEVER need to change the User or Password)

Server Type: TrivalFTP
Server Address:
sip.us48.net (recommended Server Address)
For non-Polycom Phones please call Technical Support (336) 544-4000 Ext 611

Only change the Server Type and Address, if the phone is new it will have 0.0.0.0 in the Server Address. Arrow down to the Server Address and hit EDIT (softkey) to change any value. Press YES to save the config and Reboot. If the phone does not reboot unplug the phone power adapter or follow Reboot Instructions below. The FTP password is the factory default password already entered in the password field and masked by ****. Do not re-enter. Just leave the password field alone.

If the phone was purchased used, you should reset the phone to factory defaults. To do this, Hold down the 4, 6, 8 and * keys as you reset the power. When the password prompt appears, the phone is reset to factory defaults. The default password will be reset to 456.

REBOOTING POLYCOM

  • To reboot the SoundPoint IP 301 phones using a multiple key combination: Press and hold the Volume-, Volume+, Hold, and Do Not Disturb keys in combination.

  • To reboot the SoundPoint IP 320, 321, 330, 331, and 335 phones using a multiple key combination: Press and hold the Volume-, Volume+, Hold, and Handsfree keys in combination.

  • To reboot the SoundPoint IP 430, 501 phones using a multiple key combination: Press and hold the Volume-, Volume+, Hold, and Messages keys in combination.

  • To reboot the SoundPoint IP 450, 550, 560, 600, 601, 650, and 670 phones using a multiple key combination: Press and hold the Volume-, Volume+, Mute, and Messages keys in combination.

Once the phone reboots, it will take about 3 minutes to download the most recent operating system firmware, the phone configuration and settings. Normally after the phone has been updated with the current firmware the reboots only take about 30 to 45 seconds.
