Router/Modem Known Configuration Issues

Below is a list of devices being used on our network that have been proven to work with specific setting changes. Please be aware that there are many different hardware and software versions, and not all versions are covered in this document. The purpose of this list is to cover the most common configuration settings.

Please note: Below are configuration recommendations only, consult your router/modem documentation for further assistance.

Router/Modem Setting Changes
NetGear router SPI Firewall must be disabled
D-Link router SPI Firewall must be disabled
ALG must be disabled
LinkSys router Most versions/models should be plug 'n play
EdgeWater router Cannot be NAT'ed
Netopia modem Must be bridged
Siemens modem Must be bridged
Westell modem Must be bridged
2Wire modem ATA/SIP devices must be put into DMZ Host Mode
Newer models have a hidden SIP ALG that must be disabled. http://gateway.2wire.net/mdc
SonicWall Not fully supported.
SIP Transformations must be DISABLED - Consistent NAT must be enabled.
